Collecting in Times of Crisis:7 Steps to Increase Preparedness

The talk highlights the history of collecting in times of crisis at UVA as well as suggests seven steps that institutions can do to help them be better prepared to respond to documenting tragic events or events that require a rapid response. The presentation ends with links to additional resources, including UVA's digital collecting toolkit (funded by a 2018 LYRASIS Catalyst Fund grant), the Society of American Archivists' Documenting in Times of Crisis Resource Kit, and an emergency collecting tabletop exercise.
