Abstract:

The purpose of this Regional Equity Profile (“report”) is to expand upon the work completed in Albemarle County’s 2021 Equity Profile by developing similar equity profiles for other localities in the surrounding region, specifically those localities in the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC). This includes the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson.

The Regional Equity Profile seeks to identify the environmental, social, and economic factors that affect quality of life and well-being. To achieve real equity this report aims to identify gaps in existing service delivery and to develop new policies and models of community engagement that improve the quality of life for all residents through the use of publicly available qualitative and quantitative data.

The data evaluated posed potential environmental, social, or economic factors and include demographics, food insecurity, employment, housing, education, the digital divide, land use and transportation and mobility.
