Abstract:

The TGen (Trace Generation) Processor is a VLIW (Very Long Instruction Word) machine designed to generate general memory references to an arbitrary memory sys tem. The first version, called STAG (Smc TrAce Generation) in the Electrical Engineering Department, is being implemented with an SMC (Stream Memory Controller) and a path for simulating memory accesses to a generic hierarchical caching system.
