Despite the rise in enrollment of distance education learners, dual-mode universities still frame online learners as a minority population and view online learning as a negative and inferior experience. Dual-mode libraries serving these institutions not only follow the same pre-set framing, but also actively contribute to this mindset. This presentation discusses campus-based deficit thinking in libraries and how to better serve distance education programs and their students.
